OK, so I and my friend both have the game we are playing together, we are in the same building, but usually in different rooms ... Thus, we can wirelessly connect to each other, so that we can play together. no response would be useful.

Advance Visualboy itself can not do that, but it is a modified version called VBALink, which is able to establish outbound connections to other emulators VBALink. Moreover VBALink (v1.8), the new version of WiFi connectivity will be available.
If you and your friend are on the same network (this is especially true for businesses, educational institutions, libraries, etc.) then you can VBALink contact via the internet. You can also use wireless, but it is probably difficult to configure.
